Prison Ministry Update

by Randy Munter   SOC Director

The Prison SOC Correspondence Course

God continues to do great and mighty things in our nation's prisons. As of this writing, we are in 1,210 prisons across 42 states and there seems to be no end to the impact the School of Christ is having on inmates.

I am always overjoyed and deeply humbled by the testimonies our students send us. Hope is brought to empty souls, and lives are forever changed by the power of God's unchanging Word. Marriages are restored and families are brought back together. Impossible situations are changed in a moment of time and devastated lives are transformed through God's working of the Holy Spirit.

The greatest sign of revival is true repentance, and repentance is the one key word we are hearing most from our students. Each one tells of a special lesson or series that has impacted their lives and opened their eyes to the truth. This is the power of the glorious Gospel.

Scripture tells us that "...the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them." (II Corinthians 4:4) But in the account of Peter's imprisonment by Herod, the Word of God gives us this amazing hope, "...and a light shined in the prison..." (Acts 12:7). Praise God! Nothing can keep out the gospel light; it shines wherever men's hearts are receptive to the truth.

We continue to hear from more facility Chaplains as well, asking us for the School of Christ material so they can run the School themselves. The effectiveness of the School has a reputation of its own and men are hungry for genuine truth.

Indeed, there is a renewed hunger all across the country. Men are fed up of the lies of religion, from the powerless man-made gospel that has been so watered down that it bears no resemblance to the truth of the Bible, and therefore holds no hope of redemption for the lost. Once again, men are turning their eyes to the Lord in brokenness of heart, longing for the Life He offers.

The School of Christ Correspondence Course has always been an effective tool that has brought Life into our nation's prisons; and from there to the homes of our students. This is a ministry worthy of your prayers and support, the thousands of inmates who have already been changed by its message can testify to this fact.

Student Testimonies

Inmate in Louisiana
"It was deep. Some of the lessons actually took my breath away. I have never been on fire like I was studying that book. I want again what I had when I was reading that book."

Inmate in Texas
"I want to thank you for your Bible study course. I've been involved with a few different studies since my incarceration and yours is the most in depth that I've done. I've learned so much from you. The knowledge and understanding of God's Word I've gained will surely manifest in my life and own ministry."

Inmate in Alabama
"God really used this study to show me how important it is to put 'self' upon the cross. I have never really studied 'self' like that. How can we just play the part of a Christian rather than letting God really use us? I have a total new life and joy."

Inmate in Texas
"After taking your course, I am closer to my daughter and family. The course has opened my eyes to a new look on life and what God has done for me. I've been sharing the lessons with others and they have been blessed too."

Inmate in Florida
"Before I used to just read the Bible for something to do in here, but after taking your course, I want to read the Bible and study it. I know now that I am not in this prison just to do time, but to share my faith with others."

Inmate in New York
"I have taken many Bible study courses since I have been here, but none has opened my eyes to spiritual truths like yours. Without your course, I would have never known about a genuine spirit-filled life and how we can walk close to God Himself."

Inmate in California
"I have struggled with so much confusion in my mind and other Bible studies only added to it. But the School of Christ was so filled with life and truth that the confusion I struggled with has slowly disappeared and I now see so many things clearly. I am now able to help others see through the maze of religion. Thank you, thank you!"
